Pallets are the basis of the warehouse and distribution environment, with various types and styles available to meet every situation. Here's a summary of the key factors you could take into account when choosing pallets.
New Wooden Pallets Used when:-
- concerned over previous use of recycled pallets and possible contamination.
- volume of pallets used (because of size or style) exceeds the quantities available in recylced market.
- pallets to be used as "donor" pallets and remain within the warehouse for repeated use.
Recycled Wooden Pallets Used when:-
- product and distribution fits with standard sized pallets.
- pallet specifications allow some latitude.
- pallets are non-returnable, and need to be cost efficient.
Plastic Pallets Used when:-
- hygiene and cleanliness is of concern.
- goods being stored are work in progress.
- pallets will remain "in-house", as donors.
These are the most popular styles
- Four-way, full perimeter pallet.
Available as heavy or medium duty. Rackable.
- Four-way, non perimeter pallet.
Available as heavy, medium or light duty. Not suitable for use on racking systems.
- Euro pallet, non perimeter.
"Stamped" - European standard - loading up to 2000kg Non Stamped - loading up to approx 750kg.
- Four-way, non perimeter winged pallet.
Available as heavy, medium or light duty. Not suitable for use on racking systems.
- Two-way, non reversible pallet,
available as heavy or medium duty.
